August 2006 Back to list
Dettol, one of India's most trusted brands, today announced flood relief in the form of free donation of Dettol Antiseptic Liquid to the flood affected state of Andhra Pradesh. The relief material was handed over to Mr. Utpal Moitra, Director, Save the Children (a leading NGO), by Regional Sales Manager (South), Reckitt Benckiser India Ltd, Mr. Prashant MS. This joint exercise has been undertaken by Reckitt Benckiser, India and Save the Children to ensure appropriate protection to flood affected families against germs and related infections, post the recent floods that have ripped the state of Andhra Pradesh. |
| |
The relief material will be distributed through Save the Children across the state, even to the interiors. This is to ensure that the relief material (antiseptic liquid) reaches the area quickly so as to combat infections which might spread due to flood water. |
| |
Dettol is also undertaking Public Health messages to educate the public on how to fight against infections. These Public Health messages give simple hygiene tips like washing hands frequently with soap and water, adding antiseptic liquid to the bath water and cleaning all surfaces with antiseptic liquid, which can control many infections. |
| |
Mr. Utpal Moitra, Programme Director, Save The Children said "We greatly appreciate Reckitt Benckiser's timely help and being our partner in this mission of providing relief to flood affected families". |
| |
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chander Mohan Sethi, Chairman and Managing Director, Reckitt Benckiser, India said, "Involvement of private participation in such type of disaster will go a long way in ensuring fast relief to the affected people". |
